A kind of polymer material, which is formed by a large number of gas micropores dispersed in solid plastics, has the characteristics of light weight, heat insulation, sound absorption, shock absorption, etc., and its dielectric property is better than that of matrix resin, so it has a wide range of uses. Almost all kinds of plastics can be made into foam plastics. Foaming molding has become an important field in plastics processing.

It's also called porous plastic. The plastics with numerous micro holes are made from resin. Light weight, heat insulation, sound absorption, shockproof and corrosion resistance. There are soft and hard. It is widely used for heat insulation, sound insulation, packaging materials, vehicle hull, etc. Cellular plastics, microcellular plastics, contain numerous microporous plastics in the whole.

Plastic with many tiny pores inside. It is prepared by mechanical method (air or carbon dioxide is introduced to make it foamed at the same time of mechanical stirring) or chemical method (foaming agent is added). It can be divided into two types: closed type and open type. The pores in closed pores are isolated from each other and have floatability; the pores in open pores are connected with each other without floatability. It can be made of polystyrene, PVC, polyurethane and other resins. It can be used as heat insulation and sound insulation materials and has a wide range of applications.

A kind of polymer material formed by a large number of gas micropores dispersed in solid plastics is characterized by light weight, heat insulation, sound absorption and shock absorption, and its dielectric property is superior to that of matrix resin. Almost all kinds of plastics can be made into foam plastics. Foaming molding has become an important field in plastics processing. The structural foam plastics developed in 1960s are characterized by core layer foaming and non foaming of the cortex. They are tough inside and outside, high in strength and high in strength per unit mass, and are widely used in building and furniture industry instead of wood. The chemical or radiation crosslinking foaming technology of polyolefin has been successful, and the output of foamed plastics has increased greatly. The foamed plastics made from modified plastics such as blending, filling and strengthening have better comprehensive properties and can meet the needs of various special uses. For example, glass fiber reinforced polyurethane foam prepared by reactive injection molding has been used as a structural component for aircraft, automobiles, computers, etc. the foam plastics filled with hollow glass beads filled with polybenzimidazole are light and high temperature resistant, and have been used in spacecraft.
